France to allow people from UK into country as restrictions ease

France has announced it is easing border restrictions for travellers from a number of countries - including the UK.

People will no longer need a 'compelling reason to travel' if they are arriving in France from the UK, Australia, South Korea, Israel, Japan, New Zealand or Singapore.

They will still need to provide a negative Covid test taken within 72 hours of travelling.

The rules will come into force on Friday.

Travelling outside the UK is currently discouraged by the Westminster Government.

You must have a valid reason for travel - with proof - and tourism does not count.

Anyone returning to the UK has to quarantine for 10 days.

Foreign travel rules in England will be evaluated on April 12 and foreign travel could be allowed in England after May 17.
