Alexandre Lacazette has suffered a setback after withdrawing from the France squad just hours after being called up as a replacement for Anthony Martial.
Manchester United forward Martial was named in Les Blues squad for upcoming games against Netherlands and Uruguay after an excellent run of form that has seen him score six times in his last five Premier League appearances.
The 22-year-old was poised to represent his country for the first time since March, but a groin injury forced him to pull out of Didier Deschamps’ squad on Monday.
Lacazette was named as his replacement but just hours later, France confirmed the Arsenal striker will also be unavailable.
Borussia Monchengladch forward Alassane Plea has instead been called up.
Both Lacazette and Martial were left out of France’s World Cup-winning squad, but have started the season impressively with their respective clubs.
Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko has also been named in the French squad for November’s internationals with Paul Pogba unavailable through injury.
Manchester City full-back Benjamin Mendy has also withdrawn from the squad due to a knee sprain.
