France has moved to the amber list in the latest Government changes to the traffic light travel system.
Fully vaccinated passengers returning to England from France will no longer need to quarantine after Sunday (August 8) at 4am.
France has been on the amber plus list after it was added last month amid concerns over the Beta variant of the coronavirus, which scientists believe could be more resistant to vaccines.
However, the amber plus list has now been scrapped by the Government in order to simplify the system into three categories.
But the green watchlist, which provides travellers with notice of where green status is at risk, will remain in use.
France holidaymakers will not have to pay for the pricey stay at a quarantine hotel, as this is only a requirement for red list destinations.
Following the Government's update on travel, there are some key things to be aware of for those journeying to France.
What does that mean?
Before travelling to England: You must take a Covid test in the three days before you travel to England, book and pay for a test to be taken after you arrive home and complete a passenger locator form.
Once you are home: You need to quarantine at home for ten days, taking a Covid test on day two and day eight if you do not fall into the following categories:
- fully vaccinated in the UK or under the UK vaccine programme overseas
- under 18 on the day you arrive in England and resident in the UK or in a country with a vaccination programme approved by the UK
- part of a UK-approved vaccine trial
You must have had your final dose of the vaccine at least 14 whole days before the date you arrive in England. You still need to book and take a day 2 test.
