France manager Didier Deschamps sends message to Manchester United over Paul Pogba

France manager Didier Deschamps has urged Manchester United to take note of Paul Pogba's form while on international duty.

Pogba has struggled to cement his place in the starting XI under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season and has been restricted to substitute appearances in recent week with the United boss preferring the energetic duo of Scott McTominay and Fred behind Bruno Fernandes.

The 27-year-old discussed his current situation at Old Trafford after linking up with his international teammates claiming he is currently enduring the most difficult period of his career to date.

Pogba played 90 minutes for France in the victories against Portugal and Sweden and was singled out for praise by Deschamps who hopes United took notice of the midfielder's showings ahead of their upcoming Premier League fixtures.

"Just see what he was able to do in Portugal and what he did tonight," the France boss said.

"I know him, I know how he works. He has pride and above all he has talent.

"When you have to defend, he can defend. When he has the opportunity to express himself, he is able to do so.

"Paul is a top-level player and I hope what he did with us will be useful to him when he gets back to his club."

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris believes Pogba's form is suffering as a result of a lack of rhythm.

He said: "He lacks a bit of rhythm, compared to his situation at his club.

"Like (Raphael) Varane or (Antoine) Griezmann, he comes with a smile.

"We see him ready to meet the challenges, the jersey of Les Bleus is close to his heart.

"He is one of the leaders of this team. He has a long history (with France) and also knows how to raise his level when necessary, especially when there is adversity.

"(On Saturday), he will be keen to do well."
