France lock Bernard Le Roux cited for foul play during Wales match

France second row Bernard Le Roux has been officially cited after appearing to drop a forearm into the face of Alun Wyn Jones.

During the first half of Wales' 38-21 defeat at the Stade de France on Saturday, Le Roux cleared the Wales skipper out of a ruck and appeared to connect with his head as the pair fell to the floor.

The incident was missed by referee Karl Dickson and his team of officials.

After the game, Wales boss Wayne Pivac and Jones refused to comment on the incident but Le Roux has been cited and faces missing France's Six Nations finale against Ireland next weekend.

A statement read: "Bernard Le Roux, the France Second Row (No. 4), has been cited for an alleged act of foul play by the independent Citing Commissioner appointed by World Rugby at the friendly match between France and Wales on Saturday 24 October 2020.

"The alleged offence, striking with the arm (Law 9.12) took place in the 19th minute of the match.

"A disciplinary hearing will be convened via Zoom video on Tuesday 27 October at 13:00 in front of a World Rugby appointed thee man independent panel comprised of Charles Cuthbert (UAE - Chairman), Frank Hadden (Sco) and Leon Lloyd (Eng)."

France head into next weekend with a real chance of winning the Championship, trailing Ireland by just one point in the standings.
