France boss Didier Deschamps has stated that Tottenham goalkeeper will 'almost certainly' be sidelined for the remainder of the year after his horror injury at the weekend.
The Spurs skipper left the field on a stretcher during the first half of Spurs' Premier League defeat to Brighton after suffering a dislocated elbow.
Mauricio Pochettino admitted after the game that the news from the hospital was not good, while the club said in a statement that an assessment will continue this week in order to discover the full extent of his injury.
While Spurs are yet to confirm how long the experienced goalkeeper will be out of action for, Deschamps has told fans not to expect to see Lloris until 2020.
"It is difficult to say exactly how long he will not be available," he said ahead of France's Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Iceland and Turkey.
"What matters to us right now is that he will not be with us for this round of games or for the next.

"Almost certainly, he won't be back on the pitch in 2019."
Steve Mandanda will take over from Lloris for France's upcoming matches in the international break and will be expected to retain his spot for the fixtures in November.
While at club level Paulo Gazzaniga is likely to continue in his absence.
