Fox Sports names Houston worst city to be an NFL fan

There is no worse city in the NFL to a fan than Houston, at least that is what Fox Sports claims.

On Sunday, the sports news outlet posted a tweet ranking the top-5 worst cities to be a fan of the NFL. Because reasons.

While there may be no NFL action on Sundays presently, the team accounts are always active and someone managing the Houston Texans Twitter account fired back.

The bizarre part is there was no methodology given for the conclusion. At least when Wallet Hub presented their 2018 findings of the best and worst cities for football fans, there was a basis for it.

Is the tweet referring to playoff success? Since the Texans’ 2002 inception, they have collected five AFC South titles. Only the Indianapolis Colts have had more in the same span, partly because they had Peyton Manning under center for nine seasons thereafter.

The one area where the tweet could be referring to something substantive is fan enthusiasm or fan engagement. Leading up to the 2018 AFC wild-card game versus the Colts, defensive end J.J. Watt sensed there wasn’t the same excitement surrounding a playoff run as there had been in previous seasons.

Give us something to go off of, Fox.
