Trump says his support among Hispanics is at an all-time high. Fox News poll shows that’s not true

President Donald Trump claimed Thursday that his support among Hispanic voters is at an all-time high, even as a new poll from Fox News shows he’s dropped more than 20 points among that demographic since December.

This shift comes a little more than a year after Trump shocked many by improving his margins among Hispanic voters despite his campaign pledge to stage a mass deportation campaign of undocumented immigrants.

Trump seemed ignorant of the shift, though, saying during a Cabinet meeting that his support is at an all-time high.

“And you know, it's interesting with Hispanics, when I built the wall, everybody said, ‘Oh, that's going to ruin us for the Hispanics,’ it was just the opposite,” he said. “So, you know, I won the election with a very tremendous Hispanic vote, and I think it's higher now than it was then.”

Fox News released the survey showing that only 28 percent of Hispanic voters support Trump’s presidency and 72 percent disapprove.

By comparison, in January 2025, just days before Trump returned to office, his approval rating was at 59 percent. By March 2025, his approval had started to take a hit and fell to 44 percent. In December, another Fox News poll showed Trump’s numbers had recovered slightly to 48 percent.

The survey comes just a few weeks after Hispanic voters turned out in droves in the Texas Democratic primary, particularly in the heavily Latino Rio Grande Valley. In November, Hispanic voters turned out in droves for Gov. Mikie Sherrill as she flipped heavily Latino areas in New Jersey that had voted for Trump.

Democrats hope a flip among Hispanic voters could give them an advantage in House races as well as in the Lone Star State’s Senate race, where Democrat James Talarico will face either incumbent Sen. John Cornyn or MAGA Attorney General Ken Paxton depending on who wins a runoff.

Trump’s approval among Hispanic voters is lower than his overall approval rating in the Fox poll of 41 percent, while his disapproval sits at 59 percent, the highest it has been since his return to office last year.

Hispanic voters disapprove of most of his policies across the board. Only 24 percent approve of his foreign policy while 21 percent approve of his handling of Iran.

A whopping 66 percent oppose military action against Iran, compared to 58 percent of voters overall, while 62 percent of Hispanics think the action against Iran is not going well.

Trump made historic gains with the Hispanic community in 2024, building on his growth in 2020, largely by promising to reduce the cost of living.

But 76 percent of Hispanics say they are concerned about paying their bills. And 84 percent of Hispanic voters said they are concerned about inflation and high prices. This comes as Trump has continued to find ways to impose his tariffs despite the Supreme Court’s ruling and the war in Iran has caused the price of gas to skyrocket thanks to Iran closing off the Strait of Hormuz.

In addition, 62 percent of Hispanic voters said they are concerned about deportations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This has come as Trump has sent massive numbers of ICE officials into cities like Los Angels, Minneapolis and Chicago.

The surge also led to the killing of American citizens Renee Good by ICE and Alex Pretti by Customs and Border Protection in Minneapolis two months ago.

The numbers come as multiple polls show Trump’s approval rating cratering. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday showed Trump’s approval even lower at 36 percent. A Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday also showed that only 38 percent of Americans approved of Trump’s job as president.
