Fox News mocked for ‘live Tucker cam’ feed in corner of Biden speech

Tucker Carlson and Fox News were mocked for their live coverage of Joe Biden’s Covid speech on Thursday, which was accompanied by a tiny screen — or “live Tucker cam” — alongside the US president.

Viewers noticed the temporary addition to Fox News’ live feed, and immediately ridiculed the many reaction faces of Mr Carlson, the channel’s provocative commentator and anchor.

The “live Tucker cam” reportedly ran at different times throughout the duration of Mr Biden’s speech, and featured facial expressions such as frowning and feigned puzzlement.

At one point, the president told the nation that anti-Asian abuse was "wrong, it's un-American, and it must stop," to which Mr Carlson appeared to raise his eyebrows.

Mr Biden went on to explain the next steps of the American response to Covid-19, with an ambition to vaccinate all adults by May.

Twitter users, welcoming the president’s address, meanwhile provided commentary — and mockery — of Mr Carlson and Fox News for the live cam, which was labelled “weird”.

“Lol,” wrote one user. “If I ever get married I want Tucker cam live reaction on the video recording of the special day.”

“Literally nobody is asking for a live Tucker reaction to anything,” wrote another.

The latest tweak comes as Fox News and Mr Carlson come under fire for comments made by the anchor on Wednesday, when he said female US military members were a “mockery”.

Senior officials in the military and a spokesperson for the Pentagon criticised the provocative comments, while some servicemen and women called for the cable channel to be banned at military bases and installations.

Fox, for the first time in the channel’s existence, has recently faced competition from another right-wing network, NewsMax, making a number of changes to programming.
