When will the next heatwave arrive? What we know as temperatures set to hit 35C

  • Britain is forecast to experience its fourth heatwave of the summer, with temperatures potentially reaching 35C this week, according to BBC Weather .
  • Following long-awaited rainfall in the north and north-west this weekend, hot and dry conditions are expected to return to much of England and eastern Wales.
  • Met Office chief meteorologist, Dan Suri, said: “For much of southern England, dry conditions are expected to remain the dominant feature, with temperatures recovering quickly next week and the potential for very warm or locally hot weather to return.”
  • Over 20 million Britons are under hosepipe bans following the exceptionally dry and hot weather.
  • Emma Howard Boyd, chair of the independent National Heat Risk Commission (NHRC), said the stifling temperatures are not a one-off, warning: “This is something that we are going to see happening again and again.”
