Fourth drowning at same NSW beach in one week

The man is the fourth person to die at this unpatrolled beach in a week.

A man has drowned near Coffs Harbour on the New South Wales mid-north coast after three other drownings at the same beach this week.

Paramedics say the man was pulled from the water at Moonee Beach after midday but could not be resuscitated.

Police say the man has been identified as a 60-year-old Swiss national.

Three men drowned in one incident at the unpatrolled beach earlier this week, and three teenagers were taken to hospital after struggling in the waves.

Mick Mair from NSW Ambulance said the man who drowned today was missing for an hour before emergency services found him.

Ambulance acting deputy commissioner Tony Gately said paramedics worked hard to save the man.

"Paramedics arrived and started treating the man, lifeguards were also on scene performing CPR … unfortunately the patient passed away," he said.

Earlier this morning, the body of the third man who drowned on Monday was found near Point Plomer, North of Point Macquarie.

Authorities have been searching for the 28-year-old every day this week.

His family members who also died were aged 35 and 45.

Mr Mair said four deaths in one week was "very tragic".

"Please swim at patrolled beaches, it's the only place to swim," Mr Mair said.

"If it's not patrolled, basically you should not be swimming there."

Police will prepare a report on the man who died today for the coroner.
