Four-year-old child ingests 'unknown substance' at Adelphi Hotel rushed to hospital

A four-year-old child has been rushed to hospital after ingesting an 'unknown substance' at the Adelphi Hotel.

Emergency services including police and paramedics were called to the scene on, Ranelagh Street.

  The North West Ambulance Service arrived at the hotel at around 9.55am, following a report a boy had ingested an 'unknown substance'.

He was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital for assessment and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

The child's condition is not known.

At the scene today there were two police vehicles and a team of forensic support officers.

A witness said he saw two forensic officers entering the hotel this morning, which is managed by the Britannia Hotels.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police confirmed the force was investigating and said: "The substance has been recovered for testing."
