Four-year-old boy in serious condition after being 'knocked off bike' in Hartcliffe crash

A boy is in a serious but stable condition after a crash in Hartcliffe last night.

Residential street Cobhorn Drive was closed to traffic after a four-year-old was hurt in a crash at 6pm on June 26.

People in the area told Bristol Live a young boy on a bike was struck by a car driven by a woman along Cobhorn Drive.

The boy’s parents were nearby and a large team of emergency services attended.

South Western Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and several incident response cars. They treated the boy at the roadside before he was taken to hospital.

Though police last night described the injuries as "life-threatening", a spokesman said the boy's condition is "serious but stable" this morning.

'Awful'

One local resident, who said they saw the crash, described it as "awful".

He said: “It was a little kid. He must’ve been about around four years old, and he was on a little bike.

“He was knocked off his bike by a woman driving a car. She stopped her car and the boy’s parents were there.

“The police and the ambulance came quickly and it looked really bad."

An Avon and Somerset police spokeswoman last night confirmed the collision involved a car and a young boy.

“We were called at 6.02pm to Cobhorn Drive to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and a child,” she said.
