Four year old boy hospitalised after being hit by car on busy Lanarkshire street

A busy Lanarkshire road was closed yesterday afternoon after a four-year-old boy was struck by a car.

Police and ambulanced raced to Raploch Street, in Larkhall, after reports of the incident at around 3.20pm.

The boy was taken to Wishaw General where he remained for treatment.

South Lanarkshire Council warned motorists last night that the road was closed due to an incident.

Their post stated: "Raploch Street in Larkhall has been closed between London Street and Caledonian Road.

"Diversion via Union Street McNeil Street and Caledonian Road is in place."

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed the incident.

She told Lanarkshire Live : "Around 3.20pm on Thursday, police were called after a four-year-old boy was struck by a car on Raploch Street, Larkhall.

"He was taken by ambulance to Wishaw General where he remains for treatment.

"His injuries are not serious, however, he is being kept in hospital overnight for observation. No further police action."
