April 14--At least four men have been wounded in separate shootings on the South, West and Southwest sides Wednesday afternoon, police said.
In the most recent shooting, a 18-year-old man was injured at 4:39 p.m. on the 700 block of East 89th Street in the Brainerd neighborhood, said Officer Kevin Quaid, a police spokesman.
The man was shot in the left knee and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, said Quaid. The man told police he was walking when a male who was in a vehicle that was in an alley fired shots and struck the man.
A few minutes earlier at 4:31 p.m. another 18-year-old man was injured when he was shot in the Marquette Park neighborhood, said Quaid.
The man was in a vehicle when they were on the 2500 block of West Lithuanian Plaza Court when they passed a large group of people on the street. As they passed, someone from the crowd fire shots and the man was shot in the left shoulder, said Quaid.
The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where he was in good condition, said Quaid.
Earlier, a 22-year-old man was shot in the Lawndale neighborhood in the 1500 block of South Drake Avenue around 2:03 p.m., said Quaid.
The man was walking home when an attacker dressed in black came up and fired several shots, hitting him, Quaid said.
The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds to the right arm and right hand, and was in good condition, Quaid said.
In the West Woodlawn neighborhood, a 38-year-old man was shot about 12:10 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Evans Avenue, near 65th Street, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a police spokeswoman.
The man was walking on 65th Street when a red or maroon SUV pulled up and a passenger in the vehicle pulled out a gun and opened fire, hitting the man, Lemmon said.
The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
No one was in custody.
