'Four week rehab completed' - The Callum Wilson Instagram post that will get Newcastle fans hoping

Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson has completed a four week rehabilitation course as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The 29-year-old's 10-goal haul in the Premier League this term since his £20million move from Bournemouth has helped Newcastle avoid dropping into the relegation zone.

But the England international has missed United's last four matches after picking up a hamstring injury in last month's win over Southampton and his absence has been keenly felt.

In the six games Wilson has missed this season, Newcastle have failed to win any of them and his return will be key if the Magpies are to stave off the threat of relegation.

Alongside Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron, Wilson will be missing until at least April but Steve Bruce suggested in Thursday's press conference that he is hopeful the trio will be fit to return for the April 3 visit of Tottenham Hotspur.

"Callum is four weeks in (to rehab), he's been on the grass and is progressing," Bruce said.

"The same for Allan and Almiron. We hope the international break will help us get them there or thereabouts."

And now Wilson has confirmed his four-week rehab camp with the Prime Performance Group has been completed, offering hope to Newcastle fans that his return to the pitch will be sooner rather than later.
