A road has been closed for several hours and two people were taken to hospital after a four-vehicle crash in Monmouthshire .
Gwent Police said emergency services were called to the crash on the A472 in Monkswood, Usk .
The crash happened just before 2.30pm and the road remains closed.
Diversions are in place which are expected to cause delays in the area.
A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "At approximately 2.28pm on Thursday, September 19 we received reports of a four-vehicle road traffic collision on the A472."
Fire crews from Usk, New Inn and Malpas went to the scene and helped to cut people out of the vehicles involved.
Two people have been taken to hospital. An eyewitness reported seeing an air ambulance land at the scene earlier today.
A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We were called today (Thursday, September 19) at approximately 2.30pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving multiple vehicles near West Road, A472, in Usk.
"We responded with two rapid response vehicles, two emergency ambulances, four hazardous area response team vehicles and an air ambulance crew, where one person was taken by road ambulance to Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny and one patient was taken by road ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff .”
