Four UK holidaymakers stabbed in Magaluf street brawl

Four holidaymakers from the UK were stabbed in a street brawl in the Balearic resort of Magaluf, Mallorca.

Another British tourist, aged 25, is reported to have been arrested and remained in police custody this morning.

The fight is understood to have happened at around 4.15am. Reports in the Spanish media suggest that a knife was brandished and there was a "massive fight".

The Spanish website CronicaBalear.es said that a nearby ambulance crew attended after hearing shouting and found one of the victims with his attacker in a headlock.

The mallorcodiaro.com website reported that the Civil Guard had expressed concern that the aggressor may have been under the influence of drugs.

It said that the injuries were not serious.

A third website, diariodemallorca.es , said that a 25-year-old British tourist had been arrested and that the victims had received mild cuts.

It said: "The detainee had to be hospitalised because of the state he was in, which was apparently down to him having consumed narcotic sumbstances."

It reported that the brawl "caused great alarm" and that the area was packed with tourists at the time.

It said the victims received cuts to their arms, back and neck.  They were discharged from hospital after receiving stitches.

There is said to have been a spate of street robberies in Magaluf in which tourists have been targeted. Eight people were arrested on June 10 in the Calvia area.
