Four-time record breaker, 107, becomes the world’s oldest soap actor after a part in Hollyoaks

Most of us just wish for a card and a bottle of your favourite tipple for your birthday.

But that’s not enough for Jack Reynolds - he broke his fourth world record to mark his 107th birthday.

As part of his celebrations, he became the oldest man in soap when he filmed with Hollyoaks on Monday.

Jack, from Chesterfield, was welcomed with open arms onto the set of the Channel 4 soap by actors Nikki Sanderson (Maxine), Adam Rickitt (Kyle) and Jacob Roberts (Damon) as he arrived to film the scenes, which will air on June.

Jack, who had his birthday over the weekend, has completed a challenge every year for the last four years.

It all started on his 104th birthday when he became the oldest person to get a tattoo.

A year later in 2017 he became the oldest person to ride a rollercoaster, then for his 106th birthday he became the oldest person to ride a zip wire, braving a 1,312ft-long plunge for charity.

He appeared on Good Morning Britain today as the news came in that he had broken his fourth world record by becoming the oldest man in soap.

Adjudicator Mark McKinley appeared on the ITV breakfast programme to give Jack his good news.

He said he felt “very proud” adding this challenge was “vastly different” to his other challenges.

“I was happy yesterday. But 24 hours after I’m still celebrating. It’s been wonderful. It’s been a really wonderful day.”

Despite his grand age, he’s not finished with his challenges yet, and plans a fifth for his 108th birthday, which would make him the UK’s number one great great grandad.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
