DETROIT _ The Detroit Tigers had a devil of a time with home plate umpire Mike Everitt.
Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez were ejected on Saturday at Comerica Park, as well as hitting coach Wally Joyner and manager Brad Ausmus.
The Tigers went on to lose, 3-2, to the Angels, snapping a five-game winning streak.
Victor Martinez got tossed in the bottom of the third. Before he left he tossed his batting helmet on the field from the dugout.
Joyner and Ausmus were ejected two innings later.
J.D. Martinez became the fourth Tiger ejected by Everitt, after the right fielder was called out on strikes in the sixth inning. It was his first career ejection.
James McCann was upset when he was called out on strikes in the second inning and it got worse from there with Everitt.
Victor Martinez was tossed for the fourth time in his career on a 0-1 count. Miguel Cabrera had just been called out on strikes with the Tigers trailing, 3-1.
Joyner and Ausmus were tossed in the bottom of the fifth, after Ian Kinsler was called out on strikes. It was the 10th ejection as manager for Ausmus and the second time Joyner has been ejected as a coach.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead on Kinsler's sixth leadoff home run of the season and 38th of his career.
The Tigers wasted an opportunity to score more runs in the first, as Angels starter Brett Oberholtzer needed 32 pitches to get out of the inning.
Cameron Maybin ended a 10-pitch at-bat with a walk after the home run by Kinsler. After Maybin was caught stealing, Overholtzer gave up a walk to Cabrera, then a single to Victor Martinez.
J.D. Martinez flied out to right and Justin Upton grounded into a force out.
The Angels scored three runs in the top of the third off rookie right-hander Michael Fulmer. After hitting Carlos Perez with a pitch, Fulmer gave up a two-run home run to Kaleb Cowart. Fulmer then gave up a single and a walk, before Upton jumped up to rob Albert Pujols of a home run. C.J. Cron followed with an RBI single to make it 3-1.
Fulmer allowed three runs on five hits over five innings for the Tigers. He walked one and struck out four.
The Tigers had runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the eighth. Andrew Romine, who replaced J.D. Martinez, grounded out to first, allowing Cabrera to score. The tying run was stranded at third though. Upton slammed his bat in frustration after popping out to second to end the inning.
This wasn't the first time the Tigers were on the bad end of Everitt's calls. The Tigers lost, 5-4, in 15 innings to the Angels on Sept. 7 at Tiger Stadium. Everitt made 16 called third strikes in that game which saw Travis Fryman and manager Buddy Bell of the Tigers ejected, as well as Tim Salmon of the Angels.
