Four things spotted in Everton training as Amadou Onana joins in and Aston Villa hint dropped

Everton have been continuing their preparations for Saturday’s trip to Villa Park with another training session at Finch Farm.

The Blues kicked-off their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Goodison Park on Saturday evening. Jorginho’s first-half penalty was the difference between the two sides.

Aston Villa also suffered an opening day loss, 2-0 at newly-promoted Bournemouth.

And ahead of Saturday's game, here are four things we spotted from Everton's latest training session.

New boy joins in

He may have only joined the club on Tuesday, but Amadou Onana took part in his first session with his new team-mates on Thursday morning.

The 20-year-old has made the move to Merseyside for what has officially been described as an undisclosed fee. However, it is understood that the deal between the two clubs could be in excess of £30m if certain add-ons are met in the future.

The midfielder initially looked set to join West Ham United last week but it later transpired that Frank Lampard's side had propelled themselves to the front of the pack for his signature. The Belgium international was at Goodison Park on Saturday evening for the first time to watch his new team in their match against Chelsea, stopping to take a number of pictures with supporters while he was there.

And Onana was all smiles at Finch Farm as he took part in both a gym session and a session on the grass, which was watched over by Blues boss Lampard. The new boy could make his debut against Villa this weekend.

Coady right at home

Unlike Onana, this was not Conor Coady’s first session with his new team-mates, with the defender having already had his formal introduction on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old defender, who will wear the number 30 shirt for the Blues, became the club’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window after joining on loan from Wolves on Monday.

But despite only being at the club for a number of days, it appears the England international has found his feet straight away. The defender was pictured deep in conversation with Mason Holgate during the session, and with both Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey out injured, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the pair line-up for Everton this weekend.

Gordon all smiles amid transfer talk

He’s been linked with a move away from Goodison all summer, but Anthony Gordon was all smiles amid fresh talk about his Everton future.

It was reported by the Chronicle on Monday that Newcastle United were considering a fresh bid for Gordon with Leicester City still reluctant to sell James Maddison. The report also claims that the Magpies made a £35m bid for the youngster earlier this summer.

Gordon was also linked with Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Richarlison’s move to White Hart Lane, but the ECHO understands that despite the speculation, Everton have no interest in selling the England Under-21 international.

But it appears that the speculation has had no influence on the 21-year-old, who was all smiles as he worked individually with Blues coach Ashley Cole. The youngster was also pictured ahead of the session with Dele and Dwight McNeil.

Mills steps up again after new deal confirmed

Fresh from signing a new three-year deal with the club, Stanley Mills has again joined Lampard’s side in training.

The youngster has spent the summer with the Blues’ first-team after impressing in the club’s under-23 side last season. And it appears, from Kevin Thelwell’s most recent comments, that Mills will spend the campaign in and around Lampard’s squad.

Mills was joined by fellow youngster Lewis Warrington in the session. The pair were both named on the bench for Saturday’s defeat to Thomas Tuchel's side.
