Four teenagers arrested over alleged rape in Courtown, Co Wexford released without charge

Three boys and one young man arrested on suspicion of rape have been released without charge.

Gardai arrested the four young males on Thursday as part of a serious sexual assault investigation.

However, officers confirmed on Friday morning the four suspects have been released from garda custody.

A spokesman said: "All four males (three juveniles and one adult) arrested in relation to this investigation have been released without charge. Files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions."

The alleged rape happened on July 28 in Courtown, Co Wexford.

Gardai in Gorey made the arrests following a probe into the alleged incident, which was reported to have took place in the Burrow area of Courtown Harbour.

A spokesman previously said: "Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone who may have been in the Burrow area, Courtown Harbour between 10pm on Saturday Sunday 28th July, 2019, who have not already been in contact, to contact Gardaí in Gorey on 053 943 0690 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
