Four teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 16-year-old boy was killed on Jersey. The boy was found unconscious in Trinity just before 10am on Sunday and taken to hospital where he died, according to Jersey police.
Three teenagers aged 16 and a 15-year-old have been arrested. Officers believe that all five boys were known to each other. Police are now working alongside Victoria College – which was attended by at least four of the boys – the Department for Education, the youth service and the health and children’s service. Family liaison officers are supporting the family.
Jersey police said in a statement: “The deputy viscount has been informed of the death and a Home Office postmortem is being arranged. Police searches, house-to-house inquiries and forensic examinations are continuing in the parish of Trinity.” Officers are appealing for anyone with information relating to the incident to contact them.
Alun Watkins, headteacher of Victoria College, a government-owned, fee-paying selective school for boys, told the Jersey Evening Post: “Our priority at this time is to support our students, their families and our staff, and appropriate support is being put in place. The school is working very closely with the States of Jersey police on the ongoing investigation.”
