Four Scots fined after making 400 mile journey after family gathering in London

Police have fined four Scots men caught making a 400 mile journey from London to Glasgow.

Officers from Cumbria Roads Policing Unit spotted the Audi travelling on the M6 near Penrith, in the north of England, on Saturday morning.

They discovered the men had been returning from a family gathering in the English capital.

The force revealed the news on Twitter (Twitter)

The force said all four occupants had been fined for breaching the Covid-19 lockdown regulations, warning against unnecessary travel.

They tweeted: “This vehicle stopped on the M6 at Penrith this morning containing four males who were on the return journey from London to Glasgow for a family gathering.

“All four issued with tickets for breaching Covid-19 regulations #StayHome.”

The breach comes just days after police caught two men attempting a 220 mile drive to Glasgow from Oldham, near Manchester.

The duo were stopped in Carlisle on Friday and told officers they were making the journey to purchase a car because it was ‘cheaper’.
