Four Rangers stars involved in hugely eventful night of international football as Zungu impresses

Four Rangers stars were involved in a hugely eventful night of international action.

Bongani Zungu netted for South Africa, Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo played in a 4-4 draw for Nigeria, and Alfredo Morelos endured a miserable night representing Colombia.

For Zungu it was a good night as Bafana Bafana beat Sao Tome and Principe 2-0 in Durban to boost their African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

According to Goal Zungu came on as a second half substitute and began to "pull the strings in midfield" and help South Africa get themselves on top in the match. He then scored with a late header to seal the victory, and keep his side in second place in qualification Group C.

Elsewhere in African Cup of Nations qualifying Aribo and Balogun's Nigeria side drew 4-4 with Sierra Leone. However that doesn't quite tell the full story – as Nigeria were 4-0 up in the match. The point keeps them top of Group L, but this was a match they were expected to win. Both Aribo and Balogun started and were heavily involved throughout.

For Morelos it was a tough night as Colombia lost 3-0 to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifying match.

The Rangers striker climbed off the bench, and although reports suggest he was lively when introduced, he couldn't help his side recover after goals from Edinson Cavani, Luis Suarez and Darwin Nunez.

Filip Helander and Borna Barisic could go head-to-head later on Saturday when Sweden face Croatia in Nations League Group C.
