Four prisoners held over murder of missing couple William Maughan and Ana Varslavanne released by gardai

The four prisoners being held over the murder of a missing couple have been released without charge by gardai.

Two men and a woman were arrested on Wednesday morning in connection with the disappearance of William Maughan and Ana Varslavanne.

And later on Wednesday, gardai detained another man as part of the probe into the murder of the couple who vanished in April 2015.

However, gardai have confirmed on Friday morning that all four were released from custody on Thursday night.

A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí investigating the disappearance and murder of William Maughan and Anastasija Varslavanne in April, 2015 have released all four prisoners without charge.

"The four prisoners, three men and one woman were all released last night, Thursday 10th July, 2020 without charge and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

"Investigations ongoing."
