Four police vehicles race to Ayrshire street after early evening disturbance

Four police vehicles last night rushed to an Ayr street after reports of a serious disturbance at a block of flats.

Three police cars raced to the flats in Mill Street about 5pm.

Another police van could be seen parked outside Christina's bar.

Officers were called to a disturbance in Blackfriars Walk.

Police said they were called out for a second time to another disturbance later that evening.

A man was taken from a flat by police in handcuffs after behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

A police spokesman said today:  “We can confirm that police responded to reports of a disturbance at Blackfriars Walk, Ayr, on two occasions last night.

"At 7.45pm, a 46 year old man was arrested from a flat after allegedly behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

He is held in custody to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court later today.”
