Four players look set to miss Notts County's clash at Bromley as they sweat over Ben Turner's fitness

Ben Turner faces a race against time to prove his fitness for Notts County's trip to Bromley as the injury list continues to grow at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies look set to be without right-back Dion Kelly-Evans, winger Sean Shields and striker Nathan Tyson for the National League clash while they also suffered a devastating blow when Sam Graham was ruled out for the season with an Achilles injury.

Turner is fighting to prove he will be available for selection for Saturday's game with the centre-back, who is nursing a calf problem having become a hugely influential figure in the heart of defence since his arrival on a free transfer in the summer.

Magpies boss Neal Ardley maintains that Turner's injury is only minor, but the defender must prove his fitness in training on Friday if he is to have any hope of making the starting 11.

“What we’ve tried to do is give Ben the whole week to recover,” said Ardley.

“Calves carry your whole bodyweight, so we’ve had to unload him to make sure when we do have a look at it we’ve given it all the time we can.

“It appears to be a minor issue – he can do most things but it's still tender in areas. It may just be a bit of muscle soreness, or it was possibly the first sign of cramp.

“If he comes through Friday then it could be all systems go. If there’s any doubt, we won’t be risking him.”
