Four people taken to hospital following two-vehicle collision in Newcastle

Four people have been taken to hospital following a collision in Newcastle city centre.

Emergency services remain on scene following the two-vehicle collision on Barrack Road.

Northumbria Police, North East Ambulance Service and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service are all currently responding to the incident.

Police officers have closed the road and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

A spokesperson from the North East Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 9.05am. We dispatched four ambulances, one HART team and an air ambulance.

"We treated four casualties before transporting them to the RVI."

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We are currently in attendance following a two-vehicle collision on Barrack Road, Newcastle.

“Emergency services are at the scene. The road is currently closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
