Four people rushed to hospital after one-car smash on A77

Four people were rushed to hospital after a serious car crash in .

Police rushed to the scene after reports of a silver Vauxhall Astra losing control and colliding with a tree on the A77 near South Drumboy Farm, East Ayrshire.

A man, 20, and a woman, 18, were rushed to Crosshouse Hospital, while a 30-year-old male and a girl, 17, were taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride.

Three occupants of the silver Vauxhall Astra remain in hospital following the crash on January 30 at around 2.35pm.

The 30-year-old man has since been released.

The road was closed for several hours to allow for crash scene investigation.

A Police Scotland statement read: "An investigation is under way to establish the circumstances of the crash and officers are appealing for anyone with any information or dash cam footage from around the time of the incident to contact them as they could have information which could assist officers in determining what happened.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Road Policing at Irvine via 101, quoting incident number 1739 of 30 January, 2020."
