Two children escaped from a house fire in Whitefield in the early hours of this morning.

More than a dozen firefighters were called to tackle a blaze just before 1am on Thursday, April 2.

Two women, aged 79 and 49, managed to escape the property with two children before calling emergency services.

Three fire crews were quickly dispatched and spent four hours at the scene.

Police were also in attendance, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
