Four people fined after police break up Aberavon house party

Four people have been fined after police were called to a gathering at a house in Aberavon.

South Wales Police received a report that "multiple" people were inside the property on Friday evening.

Officers arrived at the house and handed out four fixed penalty notices to those who were found breaching coronavirus regulations.

A statement on the force's Twitter account covering Neath Port Talbot read: "Port Talbot PCSOs have attended a report of multiple persons inside a house in the Aberavon area.

"Persons have been spoken to and four fixed penalty notices issued for Covid breaches.

"Protect the NHS. Stay Home, Save Lives."

This comes after officers in Swansea fined eight people after being called to a house party in the Uplands area of Swansea last weekend.

The force also broke up a house party in Mountain Ash, in Rhondda Cynon Taff, last week where nine fines were handed out.

Alert level four restrictions were imposed across Wales on December 20, meaning people must stay at home except, for very limited purposes, and must not visit other households or meet people they do not live with.

The next review of the lockdown is due to take place on January 29, after First Minister Mark Drakeford announced last week that it would be extended.
