The NFL draft continues to garner more and more of a following, we continue to get earlier and earlier mock drafts from more and more outlets. ESPN’s Mel Kiper already has his way-too-early, but very reputable big board out there for the 2021 NFL Draft, and now we also have the CBS Sports mock draft for next April. Kiper had three Buckeyes projected in the first twenty-five players, and CBS Sports has gone even further, with four Ohio State players projected in the first round.
You can probably guess Justin Fields and feel pretty good about Shaun Wade like most every other mock draft, but included Josh Edwards’ draft projections also include Buckeye offensive linemen Wyatt Davis and Josh Myers.
Here’s what Edwards says about each of the four projected first-round talents.
Next … Shaun Wade
Shaun Wade – No. 6 overall pick to the New York Jets

What Josh Edwards says about the pick:
“New York moved on from Trumaine Johnson this offseason. It has tried to apply a bandage, but it will not last long. Wade gives them some ability on the next level for the future.”
Next … Justin Fields
Justin Fields – No. 7 overall pick to the Carolina Panthers

What Josh Edwards says about the pick:
“Carolina signed Teddy Bridgewater but it is difficult to believe that it might be a long-term fix. NFL teams have largely been unwilling to give him a starter’s role. Fields is a special talent who will likely be taken earlier by a team willing to trade up.”
Next … Shaun Wade
Wyatt Davis – No. 24 overall pick to the Minnesota Vikings

What Josh Edwards says about the pick:
“Minnesota fortifies its interior offensive line with the Ohio State product. Davis could have been a first-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, had he entered.”
Next … Josh Myers
Josh Myers – No. 31 overall pick to the San Francisco 49ers

What Josh Edwards says about the pick:
“Myers is a strong interior offensive lineman who plays with good leverage. He can fulfill a role at offensive guard or eventually take over at center.”
