Four members of a family were found dead at their house at Uzhavathu Kadavu, near Kodungalloor, on Sunday.
They have been identified as Ashiq, 41, son of Ubaidulla; his wife Abeera, 34; their daughters Azara Fatima, 14; and Anoneesa, 8.
It is suspected that they ended their lives by filling their room with some poisonous gas, like carbon monoxide. Presence of carbon monoxide was reportedly detected in the room. The windows, doors and ventilators were sealed with tapes, probably to prevent the poisonous gas from leaking outside. It is reported that the family was under severe financial crisis.
Software engineer
Ashiq was a software engineer in a U.S. company and was working from home. Ashiq’s mother and sister are also staying in the house. Ashiq, wife and children were staying on the first floor while his mother and sister were on the ground floor.
As they did not get up in the morning, Ashiq’s sister knocked on the door. But there was no response. Later the door was broken open and the four were found dead.
