Four new signings who could start for Burton Albion against Bolton Wanderers

The international break may be in motion but the League One campaign continues for Ian Evatt and his Bolton Wanderers outfit.

After a disappointing defeat to Cambridge United in their last league contest, Wanderers will be looking to secure victory number three of the new season.

They host a Burton Albion side that completed the 'Great Escape' in the previous campaign. Eight points adrift of safety at the turn of the year, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's appointment sparked an astonishing revival, winning 13 of their remaining 25 matches to finish 16th, 10 points above the drop.

And that form has continued heading into the new campaign, claiming impressive victories over Sunderland and Ipswich Town as the Brewers defy expectations.

They've strengthened well, adding four new faces on deadline day and all are eligible for Monday's fixture.

Here's a breakdown of the names Evatt's side will have to prepare for.

Harry Chapman

The tricky forward signed a new one-year deal with Blackburn Rovers and looked set to fight for a place in Tony Mowbray's squad until their captures of Ian Poveda and Reda Khadra pushed Chapman down the pecking order.

His addition is something of a coup in the eyes of Hasselbaink, tying Chapman down on a short-term loan until January.

Scoring nine goals in 23 appearances during a loan spell with Shrewsbury Town during the second-half of last season, the 23-year-old is a clinical threat that Wanderers must be wary of.

Charlie Lakin

A product of Birmingham City's academy, Lakin joined Burton on a permanent basis on deadline day.

The 22-year-old is a technically-gifted central midfielder who has enjoyed loan spells at Stevenage and Ross County in recent years.

He made just 10 appearances as a Birmingham player but Lakin represents yet another shrewd piece of business by the Brewers.

Daniel Jebbison

Hailed as one of the smartest acquisitions on deadline day, Jebbison joins from Sheffield United where Premier League outfits will be monitoring his progress with great interest.

Everton failed to land the teenager striker in this window despite tabling a £5 million offer, with the Blades holding out for £10m.

With so many attacking options at Slavisa Jokanovic's disposal, the Championship outfit did not want to hinder the development of the 6'5" striker, who's been a prolific figure in his youth years.

Sam Hughes

The central defender is back at the Pirelli Stadium for his second spell with the club, joining on loan from Leicester City.

Emerging through the ranks at Chester, Hughes made his dream Premier League switch to the King Power Stadium in 2017 and has been a prominent feature in their Under-23 side, although he's yet to make a first-team appearance for the Foxes.

The 24-year-old was a revelation during his previous stint with Burton in 2020 only for an ACL injury to curtail his campaign.
