Four more coronavirus deaths recorded in Liverpool hospitals

Four more deaths of people with coronavirus were recorded in Liverpool's hospitals, according to NHS England.

Today's update from the government said the fatalities were recorded by the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which includes the Royal, Aintree and Broadgreen hospitals.

The increase takes hospital deaths in Liverpool since the pandemic to 457.

Meanwhile the only other trust in our region to record an increase was St Helens and Knowsley, where one further death - which took place on Wednesday, July 17 - took the total to 205.

The news comes as the government confirms the UK alert level has reduced from four to three - paving the way for further loosening of lockdown restrictions.
