Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue (MFRS) and Sefton Council made the joint plea today after they said they had seen a rise in people visiting the coastline after lockdown restrictions were eased.

The force said in recent days they had received numerous reports of excessive littering, fires and barbecues being lit on beaches such as Formby and Ainsdale.

People have also been parking illegally by blocking people's driveways and residential roads.
