Four more coronavirus cases recorded in Leeds as an extra 88 added throughout Yorkshire

Four new cases have been confirmed in Leeds and nearly 90 more people have contracted Covid-19 across Yorkshire.

The latest figures released by NHS England show that 88 new cases have been confirmed in the region for the 24 hours up to Sunday evening, a decrease from the 111 cases announced on Saturday.

The additional four in Leeds mean that a total of 3,601 cases of Covid-19 have been traced in the city.

Amongst the 88 in Yorkshire are an additional 28 confirmed cases in Bradford, which, on top of the 32 yesterday, means the city has seen an increase of 60 in two days. This comes after the city was highlighted as an area of "high concern" earlier this week.

There have also been an additional 18 cases confirmed in Kirklees, which doubles the amount confirmed yesterday. Barnsley has seen eight more cases added and Sheffield seven.

York and Hull have both had no further confirmed cases.

Due to a change in the way positive cases are being recorded, which came into effect on Thursday (July 2), the number of cases being recorded is greater.

Government figures now include historic pillar two data, which comes from fixed testing sites, mobile and home testing data.

Before this, figures of positive cases only included pillar one figures which came from hospital and health care testing.
