The new BTS Green Line extension, running between Mor Chit station and Khu Khot station in Rangsit, was opened for public travel on Friday.

The new extension, which has four stations, was officially launched by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Friday morning, and was to open to commuters from 1.30pm.

The four new stations are Royal Forest Department, Bang Sua, 11th Infantry Regiment and Wat Phra Sri Mahathat.

The prime minister travelled on the train from Ha Yaek Lat Phrao station (on Phahol Yothin Road, before the four new stations) to Wat Phra Sri Mahat. The trip took 11 minutes.

The extended northern service covers 4.2 kilometres. Travel on the new section is free until the end of this year.
