Four-month-old baby found dead at house in Rochdale - a man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect

A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of neglect after a four-month-old baby was found dead at a house in Rochdale.

Police were called to a report of a sudden death on Buckley Lane in the early hours of Monday morning (February 22).

A four-month-old baby was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A woman, aged 27, and man, aged 39, have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect.

They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Pictures taken at the scene this morning show an officer standing guard outside a house on Buckley Lane.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called at around 3.15am on 22 February to a report of a sudden death on Buckley Lane in Rochdale.

"Emergency services attended but sadly a four-month-old baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A 27-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and bailed pending further enquiries.

Enquiries are on-going to establish the circumstances around the death."
