Four men arrested in connection with Dundalk petrol bomb attack where five people were injured

Gardai have arrested four men in connection with a fire in Dundalk, Co Louth earlier this month.

The four men, all aged in their 20s, were arrested on Monday morning and are currently detained in Dundalk Garda Station and Drogheda Garda Station.

The blaze happened in the early hours of Sunday, July 5 with five people inside the house needing hospital treatment.

A pregnant woman and her husband were forced to jump from a first-floor window after their home was petrol bombed.

A three-year old girl also had to be rescued through an upstairs window while two other adults escaped from the ground floor arson attack.

The two-storey end of terrace property in Clontygora Court, Dundalk, Co Louth, was gutted following the arson attack.

Sinn Fein TD Ruairi O Murchu, who visited the scene at the time described the attack as “appalling”.

He said: “It is pure luck we are not looking at coffins.”

A garda spokesperson said at the time: "At approximately 3:35am, a house on Clontygora Court caught fire after residents in the surrounding area reportedly heard a loud bang.

"The five occupants of the house were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with what are described as non-life threatening injuries.

"No other injuries to persons was reported and the fire was extinguished by local Fire Services.

"The house was significantly damaged during this incident. The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination and a full investigation is underway."
