Four men arrested following drug raids across Ayrshire

Four men have been arrested following two drug sweeps in East Ayrshire.

Police carried out searches in Kilmarnock and Auchinleck last week with a number of stashes including heroin being seized.

The first raid took place on August 19 at a flat in Orchard Gardens in Kilmarnock.

Drugs of categories A, B and C were discovered and believed to be heroin, cannabis and methadone.

Three men aged 31, 34 and 40 were arrested and reported to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged possession of the substances with intent to supply.

In a separate incident cops obtained a search warrant for a property in Hillside Crescent in Auchinleck on August 20.

The search was carried out at 10.25am and a quantity of drugs, believed to be cocaine, cannabis and diazepam, were recovered.

Following the search a 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with alleged possession with intent to supply the drugs.

Chief Inspector Steven Meikle, Area Commander in East Ayrshire, commented "We are committed to targeting those involved in the supply of drugs and ensuring those who continue to prey on the most vulnerable in our communities are brought to justice.

"This work is only possible in partnership with local communities. I would like to reassure residents that every piece of information we receive is reviewed and developed where possible to enable further enforcement activity.

"It is important that any information on crime in the area is provided to police directly or through CrimeStoppers - this helps us build an accurate picture of local activity and ensures an appropriate response."

Anyone with concerns should contact Police by calling 101 (in an emergency always dial 999). Information can also be provided anonymously via CrimeStoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
