Four men appear in court after huge €90K haul of suspected drugs in Portlaoise

Nearly €90,000 of suspected cocaine and tablets have been seized and four men have appeared in court following a number of searches in the Portlaoise area.

The searches were carried out on Saturday by gardaí from the Laois Detective Unit, the Laois Drugs Unit and the Portlaoise Uniform units.

They were assisted by the Regional Armed Support Unit.

The searches were related to a number of incidents that recently occurred in the Portlaoise area.

Tablets and suspected cocaine seized by gardai (An Garda Siochana)

Four men, one aged in his 40s, two in their 20s and a teenager, were arrested and detained at Portlaoise and Tullamore Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

During the course of the searches, approximately €84,000 of suspected cocaine and approximately €6,000 worth of tablets were seized.

All drugs seized are subject to analysis.

The four men were subsequently charged and appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin on Monday.
