Four Manchester United youngsters in 20-man squad for Premier League finale vs Cardiff

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has included four teenagers in his Manchester United squad for Sunday's final game of the season against Cardiff.

Tahith Chong, Mason Greenwood, James Garner and Angel Gomes all linked up as part of a senior 20-man squad staying at the Lowry Hotel on Saturday evening.

United face Cardiff - whom they thrashed 5-1 in Solskjaer's first game after replacing Jose Mourinho - with their top four challenge having been ended in last week's dismal 1-1 draw with relegated Huddersfield.

Greenwood, 17, was this week named the club's young player of the year and was last seen in the win over West Ham last month, while Gomes, 18, last featured for the first team with a nine minute cameo against Huddersfield on Boxing Day.

Solskjaer hinted on Friday that he was ready to start with a couple of the player's he sees as United's future.

"It might be the last game [for some players] but it might be the start of some careers as well," said Solskjaer.

"We’ve had some young players knocking on the door all season really and we’ll start with one or two of the kids as well.

Outgoing club captain Antonio Valencia is likely to make his final appearance after 10 years, but Ander Herrera, on the day his summer exit was confirmed, was missing.

"I’ve spoken to Antonio, he’s not been fit this five months I've been here, he’s really struggled but he feels he could part a part and we hope he can get through today and tomorrow and we can give him a nice send off.

"He’s been a fantastic servant to the club, player of the year, captain at the club and I think that’s only fair."

Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez were both also missing. The pair have been struggling with injury this week.
