Four Man City players question FIFA 23 ratings in hilarious interview

Manchester City's FIFA 23 player ratings have officially been revealed, with Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish Cole Palmer and Nathan Ake providing some hilarious reactions to their new ratings.

The full Man City squad has already been released by EA Sports in the build-up to FIFA 23 's release, with EA's final FIFA title set to be released on Friday, September 30, 2022 in the UK and worldwide. Kevin De Bruyne is the joint highest-rated player in the entire game, with the City midfielder rated 91 out of 99 overall.

New summer signing Haaland has started his City career perfectly, with the Premier League August Player of the Month, having scored 14 goals in his first nine games in all competitions. Jack Grealish had a tough first season for City last year, whilst Ake and Palmer both impressed under Guardiola throughout the 2021/22 campaign.

But only Palmer received an upgrade in FIFA 23, with the youngster jumping up from 63 to 67 overall. Haaland remained at 88 overall, Grealish stayed at 84 overall, and Ake didn't go up in rating, despite his low overall of 78.

With the FIFA 23 ratings confirmed, City released a video on their official Youtube channel showing the quartet reacting to their FIFA 23 player ratings and teammate's stats for the first time. Grealish teamed up with Palmer against Ake and Haaland in a game of higher or lower.

The first round was pace, starting with Palmer's speed compared to the game's highest-rated player, De Bruyne. Despite being a massive 24 overall ratings lower than De Bruyne, Palmer ranked two higher in pace than the Belgian — his 76 pace beating De Bruyne's 74.

“That’s the muggiest thing I’ve ever seen," Grealish said in response. To win the round, Haaland and Ake had to guess if Julian Alvarez’s pace was higher than Phil Foden, with the Englishman’s pace already revealed at 82.

"That’s a difficult one, he’s rapid," stated Haaland, but Alvarez's pace was rated at just 76, six lower than Foden. “Eh? He’s Rapid,” Haaland said shocked when the Argentine's pace was revealed.

Next up was shooting, starting with Grealish against Cancelo, a match-up that didn't impress the former Villa man. “He better not be higher than me.”

Luckily for Grealish, Cancelo's shooting was three ratings less than his 76 out of 99. Grealish was announced as an official ambassador for FIFA 23 by EA earlier this year, with the Englishman heavily featured in the official trailer and all the build-up to FIFA 23's release.

After the first few rounds, physical was the stat up next, with all eyes in the room turning to Haaland. "I think it should be higher [than 88] because of the way he bodied Ruben [Dias] a few years ago," said Grealish.

Haaland proved a handful for City defender Ruben Dias when City and Borussia Dortmund met in the UEFA Champions League in 2021. The Norwegian striker's physical was revealed as 87 out of 99 — one less than Dias, a stat which caused shock in the video.

“Did you not see what Erling did to him two years ago in the Champions League," questioned Grealish, repeating the same point he had made moments earlier. Haaland jokingly threatened to walk out over the idea of Rodi's physical also being higher, but luckily for the striker, he was rated higher.

At the end of the video, team Haaland and Ake were winners, beating Grealish and Palmer in three out of the five rounds. The video ended with the four players receiving their official FIFA 23 cards, with Grealish expressing relief that he kept his 84 overall rating.

"I’ll take that all day! I thought I was going to be one less. Thank you FIFA," said Grealish as he blew a kiss down the lens. “Could’ve been higher but I’ll take an 88," said Haaland on his official rating, while Ake and Palmer both looked underwhelmed with their low ratings.
