A four lorry crash on the M62 motorway is causing long delays and five miles of traffic.
The crash happened shortly before 5pm between junction 11, at Birchwood in Warrington, and junction 12, at M60.
It is believed it took place in lane 1 of the motorway and this has now been closed by police.
The lane closure is causing around five miles of traffic queues and drivers are being advised that delays could continue for around an hour.
An alert from Highways England has said that the collision is expected to be cleared as soon as possible and the lorries should be recovered shortly.
The information said: "There are long delays on the M62 eastbound in Greater Manchester due to a 4 lorry collision between J11 (Risley, Birchwood) and J12 (M60, M602).
"Lane 1 (of 3) is closed with Highways England Traffic Officers on scene, recovery is expected to arrive shortly.
"There are approx. 5 miles of congestion which is expected to add 60 minutes onto usual journey times in the area."
