Trent Alexander-Arnold has been shortlisted for both the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year awards as Liverpool dominate the list for the Premier League’s most highly-coveted individual prize.
Reds skipper Jordan Henderson is also one of four players from Jurgen Klopp ’s squad up for the main award, having already lifted the FWA Footballer of the Year award after captaining Liverpool to the Premier League title glory last season.
Having won the award in 2019, Virgil van Dijk is also shortlisted along with Sadio Mane, while Manchester City duo Kevin De Bruyne, winner of the Premier League Player of the Season award, and Raheem Sterling making up the six-man shortlist.
Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold faces competition from Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount and Manchester United pair Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood for the young player prize.
Should a Liverpool player lift the main prize, it would be for the third season in a row after Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah's successes in 2019 and 2018 respectively.
Other Reds winners of the prize include Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, John Barnes, Ian Rush, Kenny Dalglish and Terry McDermott.
Elsewhere, a Liverpool player hasn't won the Young Player award since Steven Gerrard in 2001, with Alexander-Arnold looking to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Reds skipper, Rush, two-time winner Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen.
The winner of both prizes will be crowned on Tuesday 8 September.
