Four killed in crash after attending funeral

KALASIN: Four people returning home after attending funeral rites were killed and five others hurt when a car and passenger van crashed head-on in Muang district on Monday night.

The fatal accident occurred in front of a PTT petrol station on the Kalasin-Kamalasai road in tambon Lup at around 8pm when a black Nissan March car with Kalasin licence plates smashed head on into the van, said Pol Lt Col Chuchart Utthisin, duty officer at Muang station.

Inside the car were four men, all of whom were killed, and a woman, who was seriously hurt. Those killed were identified as the driver Ming Ubonkhet, Ruangsak Khamhihart, Sompong Namon and Bunthom Thaweechok.

Next to the wreckage of the car, was a badly damaged van with Bangkok licence plates. Four people in the van were rushed to hospital.
