Florida UPS shooting: Four killed in gunfight as police chase robbers in hijacked lorry

Four people including a UPS driver were killed after robbers hijacked the driver’s lorry and led police on a chase that ended in a dramatic gunfight.

Both robbers were shot and killed. The fourth victim was in a nearby vehicle when shots rang out at a busy intersection in Miramar, Florida.

The carnage started shortly after 4pm, when police were alerted to a jewellery store raid about 20 miles away, in Coral Gables.

After firing at police, two suspects fled in a truck, then carjacked the UPS delivery lorry and its driver, running red lights and narrowly avoiding crashes as the chase unfolded.

The UPS lorry finally stopped in a middle lane, caught behind a wall of other vehicles waiting for a red light to turn green, as armed police taking cover behind other vehicles swooped.

News helicopters followed the chase to its conclusion, with one person seen falling out of the lorry’s passenger side after several shots were fired.
