Four key measures Hearts are taking to help prevent the spread of coronavirus at games

Hearts have revealed the four key measures they are taking to help prevent the spread of coronavirus at home games.

The Tynecastle club this afternoon released a statement outlining the things they were doing to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak.

Edinburgh Live reported earlier that there had been another confirmed case of the virus in the Lothians, taking the Scottish total to 36.

And Hearts have revealed that they are closely monitoring advice from the UK and Scottish governments, and relevant health authorities.

They say that "informational posters" on hand-washing and sanitisation have been put up at Tynecastle, while hand sanitisers have been added to each end of the concourse.

Those at the club added: "Currently, forthcoming fixtures are not affected, but it is crucial that if any supporter has any Upper Respiratory Tract symptoms (such as a cough, breathlessness, sore throat etc), they must not attend any match until they have had their symptoms properly medically assessed."

They also revealed the four key measures they are introducing with immediate effect.

Firstly, there will be no player appearances, hand-shaking or shirt signings with the team.

The Children's Mascot Programme has been suspended for the next month and only "the teams and officials should be on the pitch". Anyone who has a booking in place should contact the club.

The third step is the suspension of all handshakes between teams and officials.

And the fourth is that the club will continue to take guidance from the SFA and SPFL joint taskforce, governments and relevant health authorities while updating supporters of any developments.

Edinburgh Live reported earlier on Wednesday how anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms is being urged to stay away from tonight's match with St Mirren.
